
Paul Timmers is visiting professor at KU Leuven and adjunct professor at the European University Cyprus, former research associate at the University of Oxford, former Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Estonian eGovernance Academy. He is research fellow at CERRE, CEO of iivii BV and co-founder-partner of WeltWert®. He has been Director at the European Commission (DG CONNECT) responsible for legislation and funding for cybersecurity, e-ID, digital privacy, digital health, smart cities, and e-government, as well as a cabinet member of European Commissioner Liikanen. His main interests are technology and geopolitics. For the KU Leuven he contributes to the Horizon Europe REMIT project on technology and multilateralism. He is author of recent studies on digital industrial policy, cybersecurity strategic autonomy, resilience and security of telecoms as well as of digital supply chains, and co-author of the recent EuroStack report on digital sovereignty for Europe.
